Important Safety Notice: Shock Hazard -- Do Not Use Certain Whirlpool and KitchenAid brand free standing range, double oven and oven-microwave combination products

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Whirlpool is voluntarily recalling about 6,000 Whirlpool and KitchenAid brand free standing range, double oven, and oven-microwave combination products.

Certain Whirlpool and KitchenAid brand freestanding ranges, double ovens, and oven-microwave combinations products were manufactured with a wire from an independent supplier that does not meet specifications. The insulation on the wire can melt, causing a short circuit and if not properly grounded, the product can present a shock hazard. Whirlpool has received no reports of incidents or injuries.

The model and serial number are located on a label inside the door of the units.

The recall involves products with the following U.S. model and serial numbers:

The units were sold nationally from April through June 2004.

If you own one of these units, for your safety
• Stop using the product(s).
• Disconnect the electric supply to the product(s) by shutting off the fuse or circuit breaker controlling it.
• Inform all users of the product(s) not to use due to the risk of shock.

Please do not return the unit to the retailer that you purchased it from, as they are not prepared to take units back.
